Pacific Scandal
There were two groups fighting for the contract to build the railway, Sir Hugh Allan was in charge of the Canadian Pacific Railway Company and her offered John A Macdonald some money Sir Hugh Allan gave him a large amount of money to help him with his election so he would win meaning that he would get the contract also to build the railway. When Macdonald won the election, it was later discovered that Sir Hugh Allan had giving Macdonald around the sum of $360 000. It was illegal to give/bribe politicians money to help there campaign. This "act" was called the Pacific Scandal.
